Associate Professor of the Practice  HOME ES 210W CHE 228W - 229W LEARNING STYLES PUBLICATIONS RESUME HIGHLIGHTS HELPFUL LINKS Julie E Sharp, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of the Practice of Technical Communication in the Chemical Engineering Department of the Vanderbilt University Engineering School. She designs and instructs combined engineering lab/technical communication courses and a technical communication course for engineering majors, serving as course co-ordinator.
Dr. Sharp has been recognized for her contributions to engineering education. She recently earned the American Society for Engineering Education Southeastern Section's 2004 Thomas C. Evans Award for "The Most Outstanding Paper Pertaining to Engineering Education in 2003." An article ("You've Got Mail") in the Feb. 2001 issue of PRISM magazine, a national magazine published by the American Society for Engineering Education, reported on her papers about using e-mail as a teaching tool. Dr. Sharp was previously cited in PRISM's December 1996 article by Richard Felder, "Matters of Style," for her work in applying Kolb learning style theory in teaching technical communication. She has written and presented papers and conducted numerous workshops on learning style theory and technical communication issues for engineering educators, technical communicators, students, and other professional groups.
